January

January - London: Shoom Club

Danny and Jenni Rampling relaunch "Shoom" at the Fitness Centre in south-east London. Graphic designer George Georgiou's "tumbling smileys" are used for the first time.

 

 

January - London: The Project

After breaking the enforced closing for the umpteenth time - Paul Oakenfold and Trevor Fung's "Project Club" at Ziggy's in Streatham, south-west London is raided by the Metropolitan police.

 

 

 

 

 

February

February 18th - London: Delirium

Moving on from the lukewarm response at the Haçienda in Manchester - Robin King's Delirium hosted the first night of the "Deep House Convention" tour at the Empire in Leicester Square, central London

 

Delirium's party will be citied as an education in years to come as it featured a plethora of the US's finest DJ's and recording artists - Fingers Inc, Marshall Jefferson, Frankie Knuckles, Kym Mazelle and Xavier Gold - all on the same bill. The artists played to another half-empty venue.

 

February 26th - Wembley: Hedonism

Hedonism host the UK's first free party in a warehouse on Alperton Lane, Middlesex.

 

With an renewed sense of entrepreneurship, spontaneity and the precrusor to the free party movement, Hedonism will host another four parties in as many months before they dissapear into folklore.

 

 

 

 

March

March - London: Shoom Club

With just a few months of promoting, The Rampling's and "Shoom" move from their spiritual home at the Fitness Centre to a bigger venue underneath the YMCA in central London.
